Friday, December 11:

5:30PM                        Hollywood McArthur vs. Pompano Beach Ely

Both teams reached the final four last season in their respective classes.  As both are trying to attain the same level of success this year, there is no shortage of talent.  McArthur features senior combo guards 6’3 Nate Johnson and 6’1 Luis Escobar while Ely has 6’1 senior Mark Houston and 6’4 junior Geremy Taylor leading the way.

7:00PM                        Hialeah Mater Academy vs. Fort Lauderdale Dillard

This should be a great matchup of two favorites in their respective classes.  Mater Academy (7A) features 6’1 senior Dylan Frye, Bowling Green signee, as well as 6’5 senior Raphael Diaz.  Dillard (6A) counters with plenty of size, including highly rated juniors 6’7 Raiquan Gray and 6’5 Jordan Wright.

8:30PM                        Jacksonville Providence vs. Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna

This should be an excellent battle between a pair of Florida’s best backcourts.  Providence features a bunch of underclassmen, led by 6’1 junior Zackery Bryant, 6’0 junior Kyle Marion, and 6’7 junior Ted Georgiadis.  Chaminade will counter with 6’5 senior wing Leandro Allende and 6’4 senior Darius Allen, as well as 6’8 senior Jamal Clarke.

Saturday, December 12:

12:30PM          Palm Beach Gardens Dwyer vs. Fort Lauderdale Calvary Christian

Dwyer is a mainstay in Palm Beach County while Calvary Christian is just now starting to get some recognition on the hardwood.  Calvary inside-outside combo of 6’10 sophomore Elochukwu Eze and 6’5 senior Malik Morrow will be challenged by Dwyer’s speed, athleticism and pressure defense, led by 5’10 senior Thomas Agnew, 6’3 junior Tommie Luke and 6’5 sophomore Miles Coleman.

2:00PM                        Miami Gulliver Prep vs. Jacksonville Providence

A match-up of size versus speed, Gulliver Prep boasts a skyline of 6’11, 6’8, and 6’7 in the front court with 6’11 junior Victor Uyaelunmo and 6’8 sophomore brother Soloman as well as senior Joseph Jackson.  That is a lot of length for Providence to contend with but if the Stallions can get out and run and score before the Gulliver defense can set up, it will be tough to keep up.

4:00PM                        Plantation University School vs. Plantation American Heritage

A great game between two teams with size.  Look for a battle inside between 6’10 senior and Kansas State signee James Love taking on 6’10 freshman sensation Balso Kaprovica for U-School.  Other players to watch include junior Drew Lamont and sophomore Nick Backer for American Heritage and junior Michael Moore and bruising freshman Vernon Carey Jr from University School.

5:30PM                        Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons vs. Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas

Always an entertaining game when two of the largest parochial schools meet in one of the longest standing rivalries in the state.  Gibbons is young after losing all five starters off of last year’s state title team but 6’8 junior Jason Strong and 6’2 sophomore Ricardo Jackson are good building blocks and have taken over duties.  STA will come in as this year’s favorite and counter with tons of size in 6’8 senior Hank Hunter, 6’6 junior Michael Akuchie and 6’8 senior Matt Vogelsang.

7:30PM                        Weston Sagemont vs. Hollywood Chaminade

Out of the frying pan and into the fire for host school Chaminade.  A day after playing North Florida power Providence they take on South Florida power Sagemont.  With 6’10 senior and Boston College signee Nic Popovic , 6’7 junior Tyler Polley and 6’5 junior Luis Hurtado the Lions have plenty of size to make it a challenge for the perimeter players of Chaminade to score at the basket.

9:00PM                        Fort Lauderdale HS vs. Pembroke Pines Charter

The final game of the event should be an exciting, up-tempo affair.  Fort Lauderdale comes in with a high octane backcourt in juniors Jeffrey Prophete and Keon Scott.  Pines Charter has some fine guards of its own, including 6’1 senior Anfernee Munnings and 6’0 senior Matthew Johnson and senior Malik Harper who is coming on strong as of late.
